The Prince William Health Department operates in Prince William County, the cities of Manassas, Manassas Park, and the towns of Dumfries, Haymarket, Quantico and Occoquan. The Health Department is responsible for the oversight and regulation of the following Environmental Health issues.
Most popular of all programs hosted by prince William health department is Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program. WIC is effective in improving the health of pregnant women, new mothers, and their infants. Studies have shown that each WIC dollar spent on prenatal care can save up to three dollars in Medicaid costs for mothers and infants in the first sixty days after birth.
Prince William Health Department also operates Prince William Area Free Clinic, which is a public private partnership between Prince William and Potomac Hospitals, the Prince William Medical Society, and the Health Department. The Free clinic is staffed by volunteer professionals and support staff to help meet the needs of the low income and uninsured population. The Prince William Area Free Clinic provides limited non-emergency medical services and dental services to low-income patients using Health Department facilities.
